Creation Time 2010

This year's theme is Creation flourishing - A time for celebration and care, and links into the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity. Racial Justice Sunday 2010

Racial Justice Sunday 2010Racial Justice Sunday this year will take place on 12th September. The theme for the CTBI resources is Migration: building bridges or barriers? keying into the Migration 2010 initiative of the Conference of European Churches and the Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe. Resources are now available to download, including background information on migration, a Biblical reflection, homily/sermon suggestions, hymns and prayers.  More >>

 

Pakistan floods appeal

Pakistan floodsStronger than usual monsoon rains have caused devastating flooding that has killed more than 1,500 and affected around a million people in Pakistan. Emergency appeals have been launched by Christian aid agencies and churches that are members of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.  More >>

 

Impressions of China

China flagCTBI's China visit allowed representatives from CTBI member churches to become better acquainted with the Chinese churches, to visit a number of partners of the CTBI China Forum, as well as research the twin study aims: to better understand the impact of migration upon Chinese churches and more widely in Chinese society; and to explore the roles of Christian women in Chinese churches. Caged kids - caged minds: Britain's invisible handcuffs

CRN conference 2010Report from the sixth annual conference of the Churches Refugee Network which looked at ending the detention of children during immigration. Psychotherapist Sheila Melzak presented research on the surprisingly long lasting clinical harm immigration detention inflicts cognitively and emotionally, and her Powerpoint presentation is available on the website. You can also read the workshop notes from Steve Symonds, policy officer of the Immigration Legal Practitioners' Association, who gave an overview of current legal concerns. More >>

 

Foundations for Mission - research results

Foundations for MissionExplore the detailed research results, including interactive charts, for this new study of the theology and practice of mission. As part of the study process of the 2010 Edinburgh World Mission Conference, Foundations for Mission examines the relationship of language, theology and praxis in the UK and Ireland. The research group asked churches, agencies and other mission bodies to examine their underlying drivers and purpose for mission. Pathways to Unity - overview of CTBI's work

compassOur overview of 2009-2010 provides highlights of the work of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland over the last year. It was presented at the Senior Representatives Forum which this year focused on the next stage on our journey towards full visible unity. The main presentations by Monsignor Mark Langham of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity and the Revd Canon Dr John Gibaut, Director of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches, are available for download.
