WCC scholarships
CISN works closely with denominational scholarship programmes of the Churches and it administers World Council of Churches scholarships in Britain and Ireland. However, it is NOT itself a scholarship awarding agency and cannot consider individual applications for scholarships.
Please refer to the WCC scholarships page ![]()
The World Council of Churches send students all over the world to study and very few will come to the UK. Their web site will explain further and will also give you details of the Scholarship Officers in each home country.
Prospective applicants are advised to check eligibility with their local Church leaders before applying for Church scholarships. Applications must normally be made in a student's home country. Local Church leaders will be able to supply information about application procedures.
Who is eligible?
These programmes only accept applications from Churches and related organisations on behalf of named students. Individuals cannot apply for support for their individual learning programmes. Churches and church-related organisations that nominate candidates for scholarships have to indicate how the nominated candidate's study would strengthen their work on completion of their study.
You may also want to look at the British Council
web site as it offers scholarships to students who are not necessarily church based. The council may also give help and advice.
Please also check the web site for the UK Council for International Student Affairs
(UKCISA) and Department for Children, Schools and Families
