Britain and Ireland have attracted students from other countries for decades and international students make a major contribution to our educational, cultural and economic life.

The churches see international students as guests to our countries and have focused on the theme of ‘welcoming the stranger' among us.

Students provide the opportunity for us to raise our awareness of the world community and to participate in its richness and diversity. The quality of a student's experience here can also have a positive effect on international relations - valued friendships between people of different nationalities and cultures can have a great influence in creating a happier world for everyone.

The Churches' International Student Network aims to address the needs of international students by supporting and encouraging those in the churches who work with them, whether in institutions of study or local congregations.
