PEERS

If young people are to develop into leaders, potential barriers to their education must be overcome. In an unequal and unjust society these barriers include not only issues within the education system itself but also social factors such as peer pressure, inter-communal tension, crime and low expectations in terms of employment.

PEERS is an interactive tool for young people, which has a proven track record. It is a toolkit for both youth leaders and participants, available on a CD-Rom. But even more important than the material is the method of working that it represents.

On the experience gained from four pilot schemes during 2006/7, PEERS is now being made available to groups committed to working for racial justice among young people. These include a wide range of youth work agencies, youth clubs, schools and churches.
