Director of China Desk

As the current Director moves into academic life, we are seeking to appoint a new full time Director for our China Desk.

Over the years the China Desk has built a solid reputation for ecumenical relationships, projects and research in China, and CTBI sees the on-going development of the China work as a major focus and growth area.

As such we are actively seeking a dynamic individual to direct the Desk's projects and to provide new direction as the work expands.

Alongside your Christian commitment, this challenging role requires a passion for China, native or near-native competence in English and good spoken Mandarin and written Chinese. You will have significant knowledge of the overall situation in China and significant involvement with individuals, churches, development agencies and others in China, Britain and Ireland. You may also have links with the Chinese churches here in Britain and Ireland.

In addition to strong presentation, communication and organisational skills you will have developed abilities in negotiation and networking across cultural boundaries. As a member of the senior management team you should have the ability to think strategically and to work both independently and in a team. You will manage one member of staff.

Salary £34,493. The post is based at the headquarters of CTBI in London.

The closing date for applications is midday 28 July 2008.
Interviews will be held on 7 August 2008.
