climate change
Climate change has become an issue of major importance in the media and across the political spectrum.
- Do the churches - or individual Christians - have a particular role to play in regard to climate change and the environment?
- Is climate change due to our lack of proper care for God's created world?
- As climate change is having a disproportionate effect on many of the poorest parts of the world, to what extent is this a justice issue?
These and other similar questions are challenging churches both to reflect on environmental issues from a theological point of view and to develop programmes of practical action. This is of particular importance in the run up to the Copenhagen Climate Summit in December 2009.

For resources for Creation Time 2008 see Hope for Creation and for Creation Time 2009 see Creation in Crisis. Resources for a Climate Change Day of Prayer are also available.
We also cover environmental issues in our Church and Society pages, including details of the Environmental Issues Network.
Environment and climate change is one of three themes on which Churches Together in Britain and Ireland is focussing and for which it will be developing resources.
